A player in Finland has won €8.65m at the Åland-based Paf.com - a new Finnish record for online gaming and the second largest online jackpot in the world.
The player from the Helsinki region bet €5 on the Arabian Nights slot, claiming a jackpot of €8.65m and beating the previous Finnish record of €6.9m won on the Mega Fortune slot machine.
The winner couldn’t believe his luck: “Me and my wife shouted and hugged each other in joy for five minutes. I could not believe it was for real,” he said. “I restarted the computer, and sure enough, the same unbelievable amount was still in my account.”
When a customer wins a large sum of money, Paf follows the jackpot with support and advice. Anders Sims, head of press and PR at Paf, said: “It is important that we as a gaming company take responsibility and don’t leave the winner adrift. We ensure that everyone gets financial advice from a ban, and our recommendation is always that you should keep your identity secret.”
The new Finnish record may not stand for long – the current jackpot on the Mega Fortune slot stands at more than €9.6m. The world record for online gaming is just over €11.7m - also won on the Mega Fortune slot machine.
