Attendees to the Canadian Gaming Summit between June 13-15 will gain insights from top Canadian operators.

Canadian Gaming Summit

The Leaders conference track will take place on June 14 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre and will see representatives from PointsBet, BetMGM, FanDuel and others exchange ideas with regulators and other industry peers.

The opening panel of the Leaders conference track will see PointsBet Canada’s CEO, Scott Vanderwel and others talk about how Canada can become an international hub for igaming innovation. The panel will also discuss how the country can leverage its status as a well-established technology hub and centre for global investments.

The panel will discuss the different industry experiences in the US and Canada and how local operators can compete for market share with larger organisations.

Rasmus Sojmark, CEO and founder of SBC, said: “There’s a lot to learn in Canada, especially since Ontario became the first province in Canada to regulate online gambling, legalising what was previously a grey market.

"Ontario's regulation of online gambling has set the stage for the Canadian gaming industry's growth and has already provided valuable insights that could be applicable to other provinces and territories in Canada.”

Martha Otton, Executive Director of iGaming Ontario, will feature in the second panel, which will discuss how the lessons from the first year of operations in Ontario can be applied to other provinces and territories in Canada. Dedicated to regulators, the panel will analyse the accuracy of predictions that were made when the Ontario market first opened.

Igaming will then take centre stage for the final keynote fireside chat. Ray Pineault, CEO at Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment, will explore alongside others the convergence of igaming, land-based gaming and provincial lotteries. The participants will also note the importance of partnerships with regulators and the potential of simultaneously fulfilling the needs of various audience clusters through omnichannel experiences.

Sojmark added: “There are no better candidates to educate the industry on the potential and the lessons learned than industry leaders representing some of the biggest players in the region and the regulatory bodies who hold registered operators to high standards of responsible gambling, player protection and game integrity.

“We’re excited to host some industry titans who will share their insights with the audience."
