In the US, Louisiana state representative Mike Huval has filed a resolution urging the state’s legislative committee to consider the “pros and cons” of regulated and licensed intrastate online gambling when it meets next month.
In conversation with local radio station 3KATC, Huval said his interest is in protecting gamblers in the state. He anticipates that, by legalising online gambling, the Louisiana state government will assume regulatory control with operators restricted to the existing licensed land-based casino companies.
"It’s not a matter of if, it's just a matter of when it's going to happen," Huval told the station.
