Following speculation that Iowa has become the new leader in the race to become the first US state to implement regulated igaming, iMEGA chairman Joe Brennan Jnr has said the state will be hard pressed to get the bill across the finish line successfully this year.
Speaking to iNTERGAMINGi this week, Brennan said: "There is considerable and motivated opposition, and the forces lobbying for the bill are primarily working for a company that wants the franchise to run the state-wide network, which obviously limits the support the effort will garner from the igaming industry. Why would you invest if you’re going to be blocked out of the market?"
Brennan went on to talk about the reasons behind New Jersey Governor Chris Christie vetoing the online gambling bill and also gave his opinion on which state he believes will be the first to legalise online gambling.
The full interview with Joe Brennan Jnr will appear in the next issue of iNTERGAMINGi, which is due out in April.
