The Colombian gambling regulator hopes a new method of blocking illegal online gaming operators will allow it to shut down such platforms “more quickly.”

Coljuegos is now able to send blocking requests directly to internet service providers (ISPs).

The change has been implemented based on Circular 017 of 2025 issued by the Ministry for the Information and Communications Technologies (MinTIC), which oversees information, communication and broadcasting technologies in Colombia.

Coljuegos president Marco Emilio Hincapié said the regulator held “several working sessions” with the ministry to agree the new practice.

“With this new procedure, we expect to block illegal platforms more quickly,” Hincapié said.

“We will no longer have to submit requests to multiple entities, as we can now issue blocking orders directly to ISPs.”

To date, Coljuegos has issued early 26,600 blocking orders against unauthorised operators.
