A new publication celebrating the UK's north west's top 200 businesses has named Betfred as the biggest company for 2011.

The North-West Top 200 is a 68-page publication containing details of the region’s biggest firms, which is jointly produced by the MEN Media Business team and its sister Trinity Mirror title the Liverpool Daily Post.

Since the survey was conducted, Betfred has also acquired the Wigan-based Tote Bookmakers, which is number six in the list with turnover of £2.2bn. Betfred’s turnover for the year to March 31, 2010, was £3.5bn, up from £2.7bn the previous year.
