Spain’s Eduardo Morales has issued a stinging rebuke for the legislators who came up with the proposed new online gambling regulations that prevent the use of advertising and reduce the promotion of betting to the small hours of the morning.

Morales, of iGamingCo, points out that the regulation is not only badly-thought-out, but it is actually unconstitutional under Spanish law.

The regulation has now gone to the European Commission for approval, but he suspects, that it will be summarily thrown out by the commissioners for falling foul of its own regulations that member countries should ensure that the private sector in gambling is treated the same as the public sector.

“There is always hope that common sense and rationality will prevail and that the common interest and fundamental rights of free enterprise will be preserved,” said Morales.
