Esports betting operator Luckbox has joined the Esports Integrity Coalition as part of its commitment to offering players a safe and secure way bet on their favourite matches and events.

ESIC is an independent body that aims to protect the integrity of esports, including working with betting operators to safeguard players, combat cheating and educate audiences.

Luckbox is the first cryptocurrency-supported esports project to be awarded a top-tier gambling licence in the Isle of Man and is being developed for launch in early 2019.

Luckbox CEO Lars Lien said: “Along with building an amazing platform, we have a strong focus on integrity and want to offer the highest levels of protection and security for our players. Esports has suffered in the past due to a lack of regulation, particularly related to betting, and this has undermined trust in the wider industry.

“Thankfully, this is changing now and we are determined to help to clean up the esports betting space. I am a great admirer of the work ESIC does and we are delighted to be able to say we are now members.

“Luckbox’s values chime perfectly with those of ESIC and I am looking forward to our teams working closely together.

“The strength and balance of our team has allowed us to develop a platform that feels second-nature to esports fans but also to think like a major betting operator – not least in terms of infrastructure, marketing and, of course, regulatory compliance.”

Ian Smith, ESIC Integrity Commissioner, said: “It is always gratifying to welcome new members into ESIC and Luckbox is a fantastic addition to our coalition.

“It improves the global reach and effectiveness of our suspicious bet alert network and enhance our participant education programme.

“Responsible betting operators like Luckbox are the core of safe gambling on safe esports events and we look forward to working with them to provide punters with a great experience and esports with a secure interface between tournaments and gambling on those tournaments.”
