Nick Gardiner, co-CEO at Highlight Games, believes the concept of betting on highlights offers an innovative way forward for sports betting.
While live sport is the traditional trademark for sports betting, in 2019 Highlight Games introduced its English and Italian SOCCERBET product for players to bet on bespoke highlight packages put together through deals struck with rights holders.
Offering familiar sports betting markets that players use in live sports, Highlight’s products can sit in and around a sportsbook or virtuals tab. The customer is shown a 60 second-style package of archive game highlights which make up the event. One such example can be found in the company’s English SOCCERBET demo, where Manchester City go 1-0 up against Liverpool with a goal from a tie between the teams in 2012, before Steven Gerrard equalises in the second half with a strike from a different tie between them that year.
