The official opening of the snow-based theme park, Snow Oman was held this week by developer Majid Al Futtaim Group.
MAF has now spent US$1.83bn in shopping malls and other retail ventures in the country.
Snow Oman has 20 themed rides and is the third snow-based entertainment project undertaken by MAF, the first being at Ski Dubai in 2005. The company opened Ski Egypt in Cairo five years ago.
At the opening ceremony, MAF was represented by its CEO Ignace Lahoud (pictured) and the managing director of the leisure and entertainment division, Mark Wegmann.
Lahoud said: “Entertainment plays an important role in the growth of the local economy. The opening of the new park marks another major milestone in our investment strategy in the sultanate.”
Snow Oman has a ‘penguinarium’ with a colony of King and Gentoo penguins as well as an ice rink.
