A new Kickstarter project is seeking funds to produce a pop-up book documenting Sega’s early arcade history.

Pop-up Sega arcade amusements

The Kickstarter is aiming to raise $52,717 to publish Sega Arcade: Pop-Up History, which will cover five arcade amusement games – Hang-On, Space Harrier, OutRun, After Burner and Thunder Blade.

At the time of writing, the Kickstarter’s creator, Darren Wall, had already raised $39,145.19 after 24 days. In that time, 712 people had supported the endeavour, making the average offering $55.

Backers of the campaign will receive a unique Kickstarter-only edition of the book, featuring an exclusive deep-embossed, silver foil case design that Wall said will not be reissued.

Wall said that each model will be accompanied by schematics, game artwork and historical context from Guardian games writer and best-selling novelist, Keith Stuart.
