Arcades in Northern Ireland are not being included in the latest round of Covid-19 lockdown easing measures.

Representatives of the amusement industry in the country are lobbying to have the date for reopening aligned with some other non-essential retail that will open on April 30. Our information suggests arcades will not be permitted to reopen until May 24.

The industry is complaining that this is unfair, as close-contact retail, such as hairdressing can open as early as April 23, while the rest of retail is set for April 30.

All indoor hospitality, including pubs and arcades, plus hotels, and the remainder of tourist accommodation, can open on May 24.
