As it has achieved the world’s highest rates of vaccinations, Israel has begun to emerge from Covid-19 lockdown and reopen its attractions.

The country entered its third period of lockdown on December 27 after a spike in infections, but now with infection rates falling rapidly it will reopen shops, libraries and museums from this Sunday, although masks and social distancing will still be required.

Over 49 per cent of the population has now had at least one dose of the vaccine, and now tourist attractions, zoos and shopping malls, and therefore FECs, are reopening.

Gyms, hotels and synagogues are also reopening, but users have to have a vaccination "passport" to enter.
