FEC operator GameWorks, based in San Francisco, US, is to host one of the largest national esports tournaments, with a Super Smash Bros Ultimate tournament worth US$25,000.

The event will be held across all seven GameWorks locations in the US and is expected to attract thousands of players.

Sponsors include Cougar, the supplier of gaming gear, Allenware, a gaming laptop maker, and Tabasco, the sauce manufacturer. The tournament will have prizes totaling $25,000, comprising goods and a final cash prize of $10,000.

The competition will begin on May 12, with the final on June 29 to be held at the GameWorks venue in Las Vegas. The company has outlets in Virginia, Minneapolis, Cincinnati, Kentucky, Chicago and Seattle, in addition to the one in Las Vegas.
