UK trade body BACTA is calling on members to support its efforts on their behalf by maintaining pressure on elected representatives and reporting back.

“Our lobbying is focused on rates at the moment and getting clarity on the Job Retention Scheme, as well as feeding back on members' experiences,” said BACTA’s CEO John White.

“We are also seeking clarification on the situation in Scotland where the grants to leisure companies are currently only offered per business and not per venue as it is in England. This will affect businesses with more than one venue.”

White and BACTA president James Miller and three representatives of the membership this week joined the bingo, betting and casino sectors in a roundtable call with DCMS Minister, Nigel Huddlestone, where they were able to convey our lobbying asks and requests for clarification.

In addition, BACTA has written numerous letters to politicians and civil servants on its asks, which have been followed up with telephone calls.

“We would like to ask all BACTA members to please feedback any experiences you are having in accessing business finance, and responses from local authorities or from MPs, or indeed any other matters you want us to raise,” White added.

“We are here to work on your behalf and get the answers you need. In addition, for those members who are finding the current situation difficult to cope with, I am always available for a chat and to offer support. We are in this together.”
