The first sports betting wager to be placed at Mississippi’s largest casino, the Pinnacle Entertainment Ameristar in Vecksburg, was made by New Orleans Saints football player Deuce McAllister on August 31.

A media-boosted ceremony surrounded the milestone bet in the new full service dedicated sports wagering venue at the casino called The End Zone.

Pinnacle has been able to offer sports betting at its Cactus Petes property in the Nevada city of Jackpot for some time but the Mississippi venue is the first to be legally permitted to do so as well, following the repeal of the federal ban on sports wagering in May. Other Pinnacle properties will now begin to receive the facility too.

Pinnacle has 16 gaming venues through nine US states and has a majority interest in a racing licence and management at Retama Park Racetrack at San Antonio, Texas.
