The mayor of the US city of Chicago, Lori Lightfoot, has suggested five sites, all on the city’s south and west sides, as possible locations for a casino.

A state-hired consultant will study the economic feasibility of the sites and report its findings. City officials stressed that the casino won’t necessarily wind up at one of the five spots, which they characterised as test sites, but the choices suggest that Lightfoot seeks to fulfill her campaign promise to direct growth to the city’s struggling areas.
