A new casino is to be built in Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, US, after the state Gaming Control Board issued a licence to Stadium Casino, a division of The Cordish Companies.

Stadium Casino in January secured a 15-mile radio area in which it could locate a casino with a winning bid of $40,100,005 during an auction held by the board.

After background checks into The Cordish Companies by the board and following a consultation period with interested parties, the board issued the licence unanimously.

It is a Category 4 Slot Machine Licence that will permit Cordish to operate between 300 and 750 slots and petition for permission to operate up to 30 table games for an additional fee of $2.5m with the option of adding ten more after a year.
