In a German casino market that appears to be constantly struggling, the two Merkur locations at Leuna-Günthersdorf and Magdeburg continue to thrive and their fresh approach to location-customer relations may have something to do with it.

This is evidenced by the plans for the new year that will see a strong entertainment programme with games, live music and fireworks at both locations on December 31.

At Leuna-Günthersdorf, says casino director Marcus Brandenburg, the Leipzig-based band The Hornets, with a live DJ, will entertain to drive the party atmosphere, following their success at the same venue last year. They will present music from the 1950s and 1960s.

There will be a photo box on hand for guests to take souvenir snapshots of the night, plus beverages and a €10 starting credit. A dinner buffet will be served with cocktails and other drinks and a fireworks display. The tickets are €89.

At Magdeburg the live entertainment will be provided by The Myriads, playing oldies from the rock era and country music. At €35 the tickets include cocktails, long drinks and other drinks and snacks - and the photo box for souvenirs, plus the firework display.
