Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced that betting shops and adult gaming centres in England can reopen from June 15.

The rules in the other UK countries, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, are subject to separate decisions from their own respective parliaments.

The specific mention of arcades in the Prime Minister’s statement on English reopening has almost certainly come as a result of a campaign for clarity from the trade association BACTA.

Arcades and betting shops are covered and BACTA believes that this will also apply to adult gaming centres but to be absolutely certain it is seeking clarification of that.

Meanwhile, it is advising its members to work on the reopening on that date across all of the business. The industry must work to the conditions set down in official guidance on self-distancing and other measures, much of which was covered by suggestions from BACTA itself.
