Hamburg launches maritime museum
The German city of Hamburg has opened a new museum devoted to maritime history in a former waterside warehouse.
Among the exhibits at the International Maritime Museum is a collection of model ships in glass cases, highlighting the evolution of ships from early canoes through to today's modern supertankers.
The collection comprises almost 36,000 small models, with 1,000 larger pieces accompanied by drawings, naval uniforms and other ship-related artefacts.
