Mourning China closes attractions

Amusement parks, attractions and other entertainment venues have been closed in China, as the country marks a three-day mourning period for the 55,000+ victims of the May 12 Sichuan earthquake.

Effective from May 21, all China's public entertainment activities were required by the State Council to cease. Though bars and cafés were not required to close, many followed suit out of respect.

Even live performances, television and radio programmes have been substantially reduced throughout the period. All newspapers were printed in black and white with no adverts appearing.
