Workers at Ladbrokes' telebetting call centre in Liverpool, UK, have voted in favour of industrial action, following a below-inflation pay offer.

Members of the UK’s Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers voted to stage a series of four 24-hour strikes after the company declined the offer from the union to negotiate an improvement on its three per cent pay offer. The first 24-hour strike will take place tomorrow, Saturday, August 23.

Area organiser, Michelle Owens, said: "Industrial action is a last resort for our members and demonstrates their frustration. However, with food and energy bills going up all the time, our members are understandably disappointed at the company’s refusal to negotiate an improved offer."
