Pennsylvania benefiting from gaming
Ahead of the introduction of table games, the nine slots casinos operating in the US state of Pennsylvania saw an 8.17 per cent increased in tax revenue last month.
In June, the state’s casinos generated $98.2m in tax revenue, with overall tax revenues for the full year to June 30 increasing by 23.42 per cent on the previous year.
Gaming Control Board chairman Greg Fajt said the impact legalised gaming has had on revenue and jobs since the first casino was opened in 2006 has been significant.
"There is no disputing the fact that many Pennsylvanians who enjoy the adult entertainment offered by casinos are spending their dollars in Pennsylvania rather than at casinos in other states," Fajt said. "The result is that all Pennsylvanians are benefiting from the tremendous generation of tax dollars and thousands of new living wage jobs created by this industry."
All of the state’s casinos now plan to roll out table games by July 18.
