Australia's Tabcorp reported strong revenue at is Star City casino in Sydney, as the company's net profit after tax reached AU$264m for the half year to December 31, 2009.

Net revenue stood at $2,190.5m, up 2.6 per cent, driven by strong wagering at Star City casino, but "held back" by softer trading at its Queensland casinos.

"Overall, this is a sound result in variable economic conditions and a difficult regulatory environment," said chairman John Story. "The company is progressing initiatives and investments in each of the operating divisions that are showing promise and provide a good foundation for growth in the coming years."
