Earlier this month, the Montevideo Town Council awarded the contract to renovate the Casino Carrasco Hotel to Carrasco Nobile, a consortium led by Codere along with other international investors.

"The 30-year concession signifies for Codere the responsibility of rebuilding this property, one of the city’s landmarks, and of opening for business the Sofitel Montevideo Casino Carrasco and Spa, a luxury hotel destined to become a tourism benchmark for the region with a top-level casino and entertainment offer on an international scale," said the company’s Carmen Ferrero Perdiguero.

"The estimated investment totals $60m and the renovation of the Casino Carrasco is expected to take up to 20 months to complete."
