A Washington DC Council committee has voted to repeal the jurisdiction's online gambling legislation.

Plans for the District of Columbia to become the first jurisdiction in the US to offer legal online gambling look set to be scuppered.

Washington DC's Finance and Revenue Committee yesterday voted 3-2 in favour of a bill to repeal the district's online gambling legislation.

The approval of the full DC Council is still required, however it is expected to pass and the repeal bill is thought to go to the full Council as early as Tuesday for a vote.
