A hearing due to be held today by the House Financial Services Committee on Barney Frank's internet gambling bills has been postponed indefinitely.

The two pending bills introduced by Frank are the Reasonable Prudence in Regulation Act and Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection and Enforcement Act of 2009, which seek to delay implementation of UIGEA for one year or replace it with a regulatory and enforcement framework for licensed gambling operators to accept bets and wagers from individuals in the US.

The House Committee on Financial Services was expected to discuss the potential challenges from enforcement of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.

The postponement is reportedly due to overscheduling and a new date for the hearing is expected in due course.
