Bettors in Singapore wishing to legally wager online may be able to do so as early as October, reports The Straits Times.

Singapore i-gaming live in October?

Lottery operators Singapore Pools and the Singapore Turf Club plan to launch online betting services in anticipation of gaining approval from the country’s Home Affairs Ministry.

Two years ago the Singapore parliament passed its Remote Gambling Act, which made online and telephone gambling illegal. However, the door was left ajar with exemptions possible for operators that could demonstrate they were not-for-profit and contributed to social and charitable causes in the country.
