888 Holdings has stepped up its efforts to acquire competitor bwin.party Digital Entertainment by submitting a revised bid in response to the £1bn bid tabled by rival GVC Holdings.

888 had a £900m bid accepted in July, having seen off a higher but more complex offering from GVC.

However, GVC returned with a £1bn offer that bwin.party and GVC continue to discuss. 888 has now revised its bid although no details of the offer have been publicised.

In a statement, bwin.party said it would evaluate the new bid alongside the proposal from GVC.
