A statement from EPN said the attacks coincided with industry reports of many other online poker networks being hit by similar DDoS attacks.

The statement said: “At FFP, these attacks have occurred intermittently across the past six weeks, causing some short-term disruptions to player connectivity, and frustrating poker-room outages.

“For players, the DDoS attacks have resulted in quick, short disconnections from the game server, which has meant very temporary interruptions to tournament and cash game play at various times.”

It continued: “These outages have mostly been short-lived and the small number of player issues dealt with quickly and efficiently by customer support.

“We also want to reassure our players that at no time throughout these attacks has the security of their data ever been compromised."
