Interwetten’s revenues for the first three quarters of the year have “exceeded all expectations,” the company said.

The online gaming group, which is licensed in Malta, recorded revenues of €33m for the first nine months of the year. This represents a 20 per cent increase on the figure reported for the same period last year.

In the third quarter alone, revenue was up 32 per cent at €11.8m.

Werner Becher, spokesman for the Interwetten board, said: “We increased the marketing and bonus budget for the football World Cup in Brazil by more than €4m. Nevertheless, the net income at the end of Q3 was 41 per cent higher than the figure for the previous year. Such a significant increase is a very welcome surprise.”
