A statement on the website of the UK Gambling Commission has announced that the Gambling (Licensing and Advertising) Act 2014 will now not come into force until November 1, 2014, due to the ongoing judicial review of the legislation prompted by a challenge from the Gibraltar Betting and Gaming Association.

The statement reads: “Due to a High Court challenge to the Gambling (Licensing and Advertising) Act 2014, [the Department of Culture Media and Sport] will be taking the necessary steps to postpone this legislation coming into force until November 1, 2014.”

It concludes: “This will allow a judgment to be made without undue time pressure.”

The act was due to come into force a month earlier, on Wednesday, October 1.
