The recent football World Cup helped boost second-quarter revenues at Malta-based online gaming operator Betsson, with turnover up by 30 per cent to SEK752.3m, from SEK579.2m year on year.

Operating income rose to SEK190.4m from SEK137.8m with income before tax amounting to SEK187.5m.

World Cup betting accounted for four per cent of group revenue in the second quarter.

Magnus Silfverberg, president and CEO of Betsson, said in a statement: “Betsson posted organic growth of 15 per cent during the second quarter, which proves that the company’s strategic initiatives are continuing to show results and that the company provides a world-class customer experience.

“Gross turnover for all gambling solutions within sportsbook increased by 20 per cent. The recently acquired Dutch brands also contributed strongly, with a growth of 13 per cent.”
