The legalisation of online gaming is opposed by a majority of Americans, according to a Fairleigh Dickinson University PublicMind poll.

Allowing land-based casinos to run i-gaming sites in the states they operate is opposed by 63 per cent of those questioned while 27 per cent approve.

Men are more likely to favour i-gaming, with 39 per cent in support, while only 20 per cent of women support the legalisation of the business.

The findings suggest that more Americans are in favour of legalising marijuana than allowing i-gaming.

When asked to chose between the legalisation of the two, 52 per cent picked marijuana and just 20 per cent backed online gaming.
