A report from MECN into social marketing trends in the online gambling industry has found that Paddy Power and PokerStars lead the way in the majority of social communities analysed.

The quarterly report found the average number of Facebook Likes for the online gambling operators analysed was 212,574, with Paddy Power leading the field with 1,180,684, ahead of William Hill and PokerStars.

Bet365, however, attracted the highest levels of engagement on Facebook, when taking the social network’s “talking about this” metric into account. The industry average (for those analysed) was just 2.3 per cent of the number of Likes. Bet365 achieved 8.3 per cent.

In terms of Twitter, Paddy Power again tops the rankings with 252,000 followers, ahead of PokerStars and Ladbrokes. The average number of followers for those analysed was 49,202.

MECN analysis of the total number of followers showed that the industry’s Twitter Followers have increased by 93 per cent since beginning of 2013.
