At 9.19am US Pacific Daylight Time, Caesars Interactive and 888 will launch the online World Series of Poker in Nevada, making Caesars the second operator to offer online poker in the state.

The first, Ultimate Gaming, launched in partnership with Station Casinos in April 2013. Ultimate Gaming co-founder and chairman Tom Breitling issued a statement welcoming the competition from Caesars/888.

“This news, along with the 15 million hands Ultimate Poker has dealt since April 30, is a clear indication of the strong market for regulated online poker,” said Breitling.

The launch sees the Israel-founded 888 returning to the US market for the first time since 2006. “This is a magic moment for 888,” said chief executive Brian Mattingley.

“We have a control room in Tel Aviv where people are watching the first deposits from the US coming in live.”
