Dubai’s prestigious Sega Republic indoor theme park has a new head of operations. He is Vicky Lethirapathy, who was formerly general manager at the Jungle Zone family entertainment centre in Doha, Qatar.

Lethirapathy, a Malay by origin, had helped build up Jungle Zone into one of Qatar’s premier locations. At Sega Republic he takes over from Milton d’Souza, who has left to head up operations at the new Bollywood-themed outdoor park that is being developed in the United Arab Emirates.

Sega Republic is owned by Emaar and is situated in the group’s Dubai Mall. The location was originally developed with teenagers in mind, but the new plan at the park is to lower the age group to appeal to a wider visitor profile. Belgian company KCC is handling the refurbishment of the location, which will include two new children’s rides and a major new soft play area supplied by Cheer Amusements. New rides going into the location are a Maverick and a Sidewinder supplied by Italy’s Moser.

It is hoped that the entire redevelopment will be completed by the festival of Eid, which starts in July.
