Welcome break for Dutch arcades
After years of talking about it, cashless play system for arcades will be introduced into the Netherlands.
According to testing laboratory NMi, the change in legislation is one of the measures to compensate operators for the negative influences of the tax increase, the lack of VAT compensation and the smoking ban.
Notes, smartcards and TITO systems are now allowed but with one condition - a grant of exemption from the Ministry. The first system is expected to be certified and put into use in the first part of this year, although requirements like waiting times and maximum value of metered credit all need to be clarified.
