Sceptre in Gauselmann deal
AIM-listed Sceptre Leisure has entered into an agreement with Blueprint Gaming and its parent company the Gauselmann Group of Germany, to develop a digital pub offering for the UK.
We believe that new hardware will be launched by Gauselmann at the IMA show next month and a UK version of that hardware will be on the Merkur Gaming stand at ICE a week later.
The German company’s experience in developing digital gaming machines in Europe has been coupled with the preparation of customised hardware for the UK market. Sceptre will act as the sole supplier of the range of digital gaming machines to the British pub market. Blueprint will provide a range of software and games content.
The use of digital software in the British pub AWP business has not developed as rapidly as it could because of a lack of suitable product, but the partnership believes that the dynamics in the predominantly reel-based supply side of the market are changing, creating growing demand for digital content.
“The market place is beginning to evolve more quickly and our tie-up with Gauselmann and Blueprint positions Sceptre at the forefront of this technology-led area,” said Ken Turner, CEO at Sceptre. He was backed by Gauselmann board member Jürgen Stühmeyer, who said: “We believe that we can drive the progression of digital product in the UK. We have been seeking the right partner for this exercise and believe that with Sceptre we have the right combination to lead the digital opportunity in the UK pub market.”
