Middle East looking up
Debit card system provider Intercard has reported positive business in the Middle East, undertaking a number of new installations across the region.
Speaking with InterGame, the company’s Alberto Borrero said: "2011 is turning out to be an excellent year for Intercard in the Middle East and having spoken with others in the industry it appears this is the same situation for many."
Intercard has been involved in new installations across Jordan, Iraq, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait of late. In Jordan it is involved in an installation for LaLau Investment, which was due to open a new site in Amman as InterGame went to print. The site has 60 games, all wireless and using the latest eclipse readers with an LED case.
In the UAE, Wanasa, located at the BAS Mall in Abu Dhabi, the company has installed its wireless system for 120 games, while the location is linked to two other Wanasa sites in the region meaning clients can buy a debit card in one location and use the funds across all three sites.
The debit card system provider has also installed at the first two sites for Hawkary in Iraq. Both locations are using the latest iNano wireless readers and both operate successfully, under one central server, despite ongoing power cut issues in the country. Each site has approximately 55 games and attractions. Other installations in the region include one in the city of Sulaimaniya, which will feature 350 games over three floors, and another in the city of Zhako.
In other operator news from the Middle East, Al Hokair is reportedly opening a new Sparkys location at the Kingdom Tower in Saudi Arabia. Considered the ‘Big Ben’ of Riyadh, this landmark building will house 70 games, use Intercard’s iNano wireless system and will be linked to 40 other Al Hokair amusement centres. Other installations for Intercard in Saudi include Fun Time, Dream Land, Tooty Town and Dalamoon. And in Kuwait, Kids Village has installed Intercard’s system to manage its 120 games.
