Humbert Betti dies at 92

Humbert Betti, founder of H Betti Industries, the parent company of Betson Enterprises, died at the age of 92 on Sunday, July 24, in a hospital in Cape Cod, US.

He is understood to have been admitted to hospital after suffering a heart attack on Saturday.

Betti founded H Betti Industries in 1934 as an operating route for jukeboxes and pintables. Building on the growing amusement and vending markets, in 1955 the company diversified its business to include the distribution of billiard supplies.

In the early 1960s the company renamed its distribution business Betson Enterprises and from there it grew to include offices across the US to become one of the industry’s largest distribution networks.

Betti is survived by sons Peter and Robert, daughter Susan Betti-DiMotta, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Eileen.
