Amusement Services International, based in Dubai, UAE, has entered a joint distribution and development agreement with international kart track turnkey specialist Fastline Group.

According to Prakash Vivekanand, there is an emerging trend in FECs to introduce ‘adrenalin zone’ components to cater for the teenage and young adult sector while widening the FEC market reach, visitor stay and market spend.

Karting components have been introduced in Adhari Park in Bahrain and Stargate in Dubai while several key indoor locations are also considering the addition of indoor karting within their FEC concepts.

Simon Heap, chief operating officer of Fastline Group, commented that its go-kart track turnkey business had traditionally focused on motor sports entertainment facilities such as Alain Raceway in the UAE and the Erbil Speed Centre in Iraq.

"Recently there has been an emerging trend for FEC and shopping mall development companies to incorporate karting centres in their facilities, targeting the older teenagers and young adult market to extend the FEC appeal to a wider audience," he said. "Traditionally FECs had incorporated kiddie ride or bumper kart style karting but this only appealed to young children and younger teenagers."
