The 2010 Dubai Entertainment Amusement and Leisure show opened its doors on Sunday at the World Trade Centre to some relief by the organisers that the bulk of its European visitors were able to get to the United Arab Emirates for the show.

Only days before many of those visitors had been stranded in various parts of northern Europe by the closure of European air space because of the cloud of dust and ash emissions from an erupting Icelandic volcano.

Show general manager Angie Mountford said: "We are very relieved that just about everyone has managed to get into town for the show. We went through a period of considerable concern over the situation, but now hardly anyone has failed to get here."

The show has 150 exhibitors, approximately the same as last year, taking up slightly more space. Principal exhibitors include ASI, Warehouse of Games, UDC, Leisure Tech, QubicaAMF, Switch Bowling and PMS. The show is organised by International Expo Consults of Dubai and runs for three days.
