Double tragedy has struck the US attractions industry this week with news that well-known industry personality, operator and supplier, Clayton McGonigle has died suddenly aged 60 and that Allen Duke, 23-year-old son of industry veteran Brian Duke, has died in a traffic accident.

Tragedies for US industry

McGonigle was founder of Wisconsin’s Fun Company and Direct Electronics. On Monday he was taken ill on his way to the Dallas Amusement Expo. He died in hospital of a combination of heart problems and kidney failure. McGonigle's businesses were best known for gaming-style videos and cabinets.

Allen Duke’s sudden death was the result of an accident in Durango, Colorado, last Saturday, when he and an Italian tourist were hit and killed by a car which left the road and struck them as they were walking along the pavement.

He was the son of Brian and Emi Duke and has a twin brother and a sister.
