The gypsum ceiling fell in just in front of the Circus Land entrance and within the food court. The injured, a woman and a baby, were taken to hospital but were later released.

The mall was closed while experts were brought into conduct a survey. The mall is under the same ownership as the Villaggio Mall, also in Doha, which three years ago was the scene of a disastrous fire that killed 17 people.
