The decision by operator MGM Resorts International to choose Sacoa’s system marks one of the largest deployments of the PlayCard System in the US.

The first phase of installation involved the Big Apple’s arcade, featuring more than 200 video, redemption and novelty machines. The second phase will incorporate roller coaster rides into the card, with pre-packaged specials and promotions for a full entertainment guest experience. Future plans include cross-marketing promotions involving other MGM Resorts hotels, buying food and beverages and room card acceptance to pay for play.

“We are extremely happy to have MGM Resorts with its new Las Vegas showcase as our client,” said Sacoa director Sebastian Mochkovsky. “Transition from cash to card was simple and most impressively, it was done in the middle of its busy summer season. We appreciate its trust in our system and are happy to work with its team to complete all phases as scheduled."

Brian Duke, who heads up new business development at Sacoa, said the project presented a number of challenges for the company because of the necessary gaming security measures and MGM’s corporate requirements.

“We were able to work around any difficulties and accomplish everything for it exactly as it wanted it done,” he explained. “The result is a state-of-the-art cashless payment system that has drastically improved performance and revenue at its beautifully renovated facility.”
