Thousands of illegal gaming machines have been destroyed as part of Thailand’s crackdown on unlawful gambling.

According to the Bangkok Post, around 5,000 devices and electronic circuit boards, including slot machines, pinball games and sports betting machines, were crushed at a military site in the city.

A further 180 machines and 160 circuit boards were seized elsewhere and destroyed in the Phitsanulok province.

Acting police chief Watcharapol Prasarnrajkit said that there could be many more gambling machines still in operation but that local production of such equipment had already stopped.
