The UK Gambling Commission hosted workshops in two English towns, Grimsby on June 14 and Taunton on June 21, with over 40 local arcade and family entertainment centre owners attending.

Helen Venn, programme director at the commission said: “We appreciate that it’s sometimes hard for small businesses to feel they are being given the same voice as larger gambling businesses.

“This is why we have decided to host these events – the first in Grimsby and the second in Taunton – to give local arcade owners the opportunity to hear first-hand from commission compliance and policy experts about the expectations and challenges facing their businesses straight from the regulator.

“It’s been a really important opportunity for us to engage with smaller operators on a face-to-face basis, but also to reemphasise with the importance of gambling businesses taking their anti-money laundering and social responsibility requirements seriously.”

The commission plans to host further events later in the year. In the meantime, it will be offering a webinar to other businesses that couldn’t attend.
