Crown Resorts has seen profits rise for the half-year period ending December 31 2017, fuelled largely by the performance of its Australian resorts.

The company showed an increase of 0.6 per cent in net profit to AU$192.4m, up from $191.3m last year.

For the company’s Australian resorts, normalised revenue rose to $1,555m. Main floor gaming revenue increased to just under $860m, up 0.7 per cent on last year, and non-gaming revenue increased 6.6 per cent to just over $390m.

John Alexander, executive chairman of Crown, said: “Crown’s Australian operations’ first half result reflected mixed trading conditions. Total normalised revenue across Crown’s Australian resorts increased by 4.8 per cent on the prior comparable period. Main floor gaming revenue increased by 0.7 per cent, with modest revenue growth in Melbourne offset by softness in Perth. VIP programme play turnover in Australia of $22.6bn (up 15.9 per cent) was a pleasing outcome, particularly at Crown Melbourne (up 37.5 per cent), given the difficult trading conditions in the pcp.”
